		<description>@Mikko, no doubt Warhammer has been a commercially important game.  In many ways, I see it as an outgrowth of the &quot;tactical wargames&quot; I mention which have their origin in systems like Chainmail.

@Simeon, a couple of people have mentioned the sowing games of Africa.  If I do another edition of this some day I&#039;ll try and include it!

@Josh, thanks for the comment about Piaget&#039;s research on marbles and children&#039;s play.  I think that&#039;s a great point.  I suspect that &quot;modding&quot; in one form or another is as old as any type of game!</description>
